Chris has great taste. The Nicky Wright photo to which he refers is my "Moonshadow", taken between 1974 and 1984 when it resided at the ACD Museum. (I bought it in 1984.) This shot was taken on a back road near Auburn. It is memorable because photos of Cords with the headlights on seem to be rare, and Nicky caught just the right time of day for lights and car to both be visible. (A consummate pro was he.) This photo was the reason for my naming the car what I did.

There is also the 1929 color Navajo Red, a color spec is available from the ACD Museum. I think the optional red color (Custom) was advertised in 1934 in fortune Magazine. But I am new to the Auburn club, so don't take my word.

Great-looking car all the same, and a good photo. Reminds me of the Nicky Wright photo in the lobby of the ACD Museum, with a Cord sedan with its headlights up and lit in a cornfield.

My Auburn is a little darker red.

I love this car, and it's alot more fun than buying mutual funds, bonds and other boring "investments".

That's EXACTLY the color I like. :D

It doesn't photograph well though. The car above looks like an ad for the Citrus Growers' Association.

All of them--even better. :D Thanks.

The color on my favorite Speedster was called Target Red, or so it was claimed. About the same shade as a Ferrari.

I actually saw an unrestored speedster with Cool Orchard Green. Not my first choice!

Hope this helps. Mark

I've always liked red paint on the 1935 and '36 speedsters.

Was there a factory red offered for these cars? If so, what was it called and what was the coordinating interior color?

(I know I've got a paint option chart somewhere in my boxes of old ACD NL back issues, but asking on here is faster than digging through them.)
