GHOSTMAN,

THAT IS ALL THERE IS. IF YOU ADD 1000 TO THE NUMBER, YOUR SERIAL NUMBER WILL BE 1899, WHICH WOULD BE STAMPED ON THE S/N PLATE.

YOUR NUMBER INDICATES A EARLY 1930 MANUFACTURE DATE.

GOOD LUCK

JEG

I just took a look at the frame on the right front. You are right, it is very faint. The number stamped there is 899. Is there more to it?

GHOSTMAN,

THE PLATE YOU ARE REFERRING TO IS THE BODY TAG NUMBER FROM THE LIMOSINE BODY CO. I WOULD SUMMIZE THAT YOU HAVE A 895 CABRIOLET OR FOUR DOOR CONVERTIBLE SEDAN.

AS THE S/N, LOOK CLOSELY AT THE ATTACHMENT POINT WHERE THE SPRING AND FRAME ARE ATTACHED AT THE VERY FRONT OF THE CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THAT IS WHERE YOU SHOULD FIND THE S/N ON THE OUTBOARD SIDE. SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND I WILL SEND YOU SOME PICS OF A 1930 8-125 S/N LOCATION

A new wrinkle on the ID situation. I have not found anything on the frame as yet but I did find something under the seat. On the passenger side there is a metal plate attached to the floor board is a metal plate bearing the number X6275. Does anyone have any idea what this number represents?

Ghostman,

The s/n is either on the passenger side frame just behind the rear portion of the front tire or on the passenger side at the very front of the car where the front spring attaches to the frame.

As far as your starter problem, I am sure some club "expert" will put their two cents worth in.

Hello everyone. I am a new member who just inherited this vehicle. Needless to say it needs some work although it is 98% there. The first two things are where is the serial number located other than on the firewall? The car was given a number by the State of PA in 1962, I assume because the plate was missing. Is it on the frame somewhere?
Also, the car did run but now I can't get the starter to turn. I am hot to the starter but it seems that no matter what I try the car won't crank. I am assuming that the problem is the starter.
Thanks in advance for any help and I look forward to getting the car running and seeing more like it.
