31/32/33 kick shackle spring

I have had 2 of these apart on 33 salon frames and they were both 1 piece springs.

When we took this apart, we found two square wire spings
one about 1 5/8" long and the other 1" long. Both appear to be of the same diameter (1 3/8" OD) Both appear to be the same sized wire.

Of course, the smaller spring is broken! So the question is:

Are these the original springs?
If so , what is the configuration when assembled? IE the kick shackle has a ring through which the spring rod passes. Should one spring be above the ring and one below? Both on top?

The second question is has anyone had to replace these and, if so , with what? I was thinking that if both go on top, I could replace them both with one longer spring.

I'm still looking for rear spring hangers for an 8-98, both sides-inner and outer - 4 pieces in total, if anyone has leads.
