Don't forget the Park is open Friday for club members and cars to get together.

31-33 8 cylinder sedans come up fairly regularly. They vary widely in condition and I agree with the advice of buying a car you don't need to restore. If you can attend the Reunion over Labor Day weekend you may even find one there for sale. At the least you'll have the opportunity to meet a lot of owners and ask for their advice and experience in finding one for yourself. I suggest loitering at 9th & Main on Thursday and Friday nights, definitely hitting Eckhart Park Saturday AM and cruising the ACD Museum parking lot in between. You should see several of these sedans around.

Thanks everyone for the input I really appreciate it. I would like one a little more restored. How often do they come up for sale or does anyone know where I can get one. I have been looking for awhile. I live in Auburn and have always had a love for these cars.

If you can be happy getting it running and driving like it is, buy it. If you are going to restore it, think twice. The moment you start restoring it, new interior, etc you will have more money in it than it is worth. If that is alright with you, go for it. If not, buy one restored to your satisfaction. Much less expensive.

Hi Newbie, I think that it will be difficult to get advice as to a specific price to pay for the car. Price is a bit of a personal thing and what really matters is what is the car worth to you based on numerous factors. That being said no one wants to pay way over market value for a car. Having bought my first Cord a few years ago I can tell you that what I found to be very helpful was to review auction results for similar cars to get an idea of car prices based on body style, condition, etc. There are a few auction sites that allow you to search auction results such as BaT (Bring a Trailer), RMSothebys, etc. A did a quick search and found the following results for a couple of cars similar to the one you are looking at:

rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/hf19/hershey/...n-8-98a-sedan/759614

bringatrailer.com/listing/1929-auburn-680/

I hope that this helps and good luck with the car if you get it.

Cordially,
Bill Kastanis

WoW that looks like a very nice original. It looks like it was repainted. I have a sedan very similar to yours. Clean it up and drive it as it is.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

It sure is an interesting find and looks to be in very original condition.
I have no idea what it is worth. Good luck with purchasing it.
Attached is a picture taken in 1931 outside the Factory in Connersville showing new Auburns being shipped out. They were flat out putting them together to meet the demand selling over 30,000 cars that year.

Speedsters are at the top of the heap and four door sedans are at the bottom.
Original unmolested cars are always desireable.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Best way to get help like you asked for is to post pictures. This club has some very happy to help members but pictures really help. Posting the serial number and engine number can tel you plenty about this particular car in question

Newbie needing help was created by danc2003
Hello I’m new to this site. I have always had a love of any auburn car company cars. I’m considering buying a 1931 Auburn 8-98A. I have matched the motor to the body plate. Really just don’t know what to expect to pay for it. It needs new interior due to extensive storage and motor will turn over. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
