Oh boy, I can definitely tell the differences. There are more difference than similarities.

It is my opinion that the numbers stamped into the frame and engine will match the VIN tag.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Hi Curt,
I read somewhere that VIN numbers during the last year of production may not match the car that rolled out the back door. To my untrained eye I don’t see any glaring signs of surgery. Any thoughts on what to look for and where telltale signs may be? I know that records are sparse; is there any club listing of cars by VIN that might support or refute that conjecture?
In any case, me and the drop top are on the roads strutting her stuff,
and the other toys are in the garage sulking.
Thanks for your input.
George

Your cabriolet started out life at the factory as a coupe.

Car registry? was created by Lammster1
Now that I have my 1936 852 cabriolet running reliably, after owning it for a few years, my thoughts turn to it's history. Is there a registry that might have information about my individual car, past owners, where it has been, when it was built, etc? Also, my car has a model number ending in M, or N ( very difficult to tell) which I thought is signifying a coupe. Does anyone have any knowledge as to why. Thanks!
