When driving, it's a good habit to turn the handle to the lock position.

Thanks kindly for all your responses - this has been most interesting to read. I’m the owner of 812 1600K, the Cord that (hopefully one day!) this door handle will go on.
Out of curiosity, how rare are the lockable handles?

Funny that it was not fitted to the driver's side instead.

What Jim has posted is correct. But it would seem to me this is something that helps compared to the original crimped corners.

In the first picture there is a very small hole in the tubular section of the handle about 3/8" back from the handle lever.
I assume a pin can be inserted in this hole to depress part of the lock for removal.
I do not want to damage the handle . Any assistance with a dismantling procedure would be greatly appreciated.
