Thanks for all the responses.
I think I might be an idiot. McMaster Carr does not list a 3/4x24TPI plug. Is it made of unobtainium or do I not know what I'm looking for?

My steering box has a pressed metal plug with a fine tapered thread which has 24 threads per inch and a maximum diameter of 3/4"
I have looked at various charts but cannot identify it.

Try a 7/16x20 bolt to see if it fits

Steering Box Fill Plug? was created by alsancle

The fill plug for our steering box has mysteriously gone missing. I have a bunch of SAE threaded plugs, but it is smaller than 1/2" and it is bigger than 3/8" so I'm stumped. Does anyone have one handy or know the exact size?
