Startix Problems

The project car was set up with two batteries when I purchased it.
It was mid restoration with the engine not finished so I have no idea why he added the extra battery.
My understanding however is that while the batteries do have a lot of amps, electrical devices only draw what they need so I don't think that this would be the problem.
If the starter is faulty it could be drawing too many amps causing the problem.
I have ordered an amp clamp to test the draw and will keep you posted
Thanks

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Have you tried it with just 1 battery?

It is Positive ground and is wired that way.
Any ideas?

When I first started the car I used a standard 6 volt solenoid which after a few starts the contacts welded together, This happened to the second one that I tried.
I then hot wired my startix and used the manual button and the same thing happened.
My car is using two Optima 6V batteries wired in parallel giving a reading of
6.8 Volts and the engine is grounded direct to the battery.
The cables are all heavy six volt cables.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The article says to leave the generator wire disconnected.
I figure if it is disconnected and taped up inside the Startix box then the generator wire can be connected on the outside to make it look correct.

Attached is the sheet by Don Beatty showing how to disconnect the restart solenoid.
I have attached a better copy as some of the text had been cut short.

Would it be possible for you to send me this Startix modification? It sounds interesting and I might want to try it as I restore my Cord.
THanks,
Jim

I'm getting close to finishing the restoration which will probably string out to March 2021 by the time it has been debugged.

You will also note a strip with LED lights between the dash and ash tray. These are gear selection lights which are a bit of a novelty but work very well especially with novice drivers.
Red is for reverse and Green covers the Go Gears.

I covered about 10,000 miles in 5 years and hope to do a lot more.
I had thought the Startix would work without the restart function and without the need of a push button. Thanks again "UCONN".

Has anybody actually removed the restart solenoid and just used the box with the main solenoid in place ?
By removing the restart solenoid the cable can still be connected to the generator terminal for show.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
