As a P.S. to the F-88 sold, it was acknowledged that the car was, in fact, shipped to Mr. Cord in pieces. The website Auto Connection stated that the new owner, John Hendricks who is the founder of the Discovery Channel, bought it to put in a new museum he is building in Gateway CO. It appears Bill, you and Peter should have made the rebuild of that car a summer project before it got away!!!

Just found some other results from the RM auction that took place in Phoenix last week end as well. 1935 821SC boat tail went for $335,500 and a 1933 12-165 Salon Speedster at $506,000. Several Cords sold and a Duesenberg J conv. coupe for $2,750,000.

Whoever runs this website is pretty fast. They've already located pictures of the car and posted them in the Picture Gallery.

My brother, Peter and I seem to remember a Corvette or similar car that showed up at Cordhaven in a lot of boxes. "Sir" never put it together. Was a F-88 Olds similar to a Corvette?

Is this the same car?

GM often junked their "dream cars". E.L. Cord had the notion of bringing this out as a production car. He apparently convinced GM to sell rather than junk. He bought one of the two prototypes and a bunch of spare parts. Never followed through, and car was later sold. (Hell of an investment!) Don't know if E.L. planned to call the car a Cord :-)

Most of our members are still not online, and I venture to say that most of them don't watch the auctions on cable, either.

How about writing up the results for the Newsletter. (Usually the Ds get all the ink!)
