Looking for opinions regarding what octane gas to use. Some locals are saying to get the highest octane I can. I'm not sure why since these are low compression engines. Also, what about additives like Sta-bil and lead additives?

Thanks,
Ben

Premium gas was not available until the late 40's. I use regular with no addditives. I drain the tank when the cars are in winter storage. The start the car up and run it out of gas.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Agree with Curt. There are some states that the premium is no ethanol. Just ran into some stations like that on a tour we just got back from Mo. and Ark.

Thank you for your replies. They go along with what I was thinking. Unfortunately regular gas here has Ethanol added which is a problem. I did find some Premium 110 octane at $10 per gallon which was Ethanol free. No thanks to that. I'm planning on using a lead additive since the engine still has the soft valves and seats.
I would like to change to rotor, cap, and points. Do either of you have a source for for these parts?
Thanks,
Ben

You might consider adding 1/2 oz of 2-cycle oil per gallon of gas. It will help preserve all of those soft parts.
