Reanimation of a (non ACD) technical dinosaur was created by landmark
Hello,
I hope the posting will be okay, it is not about an ACD car, but it might be interesting for "lovers" of "forgotten" engineering with fire and smoke.
I found a video of the first start (after 40 years) of a very special (and simple) tractor engine.
It's an reclined [u:jbrg5uaz]one[/u:jbrg5uaz] cylinder [u:jbrg5uaz]two-stroke[/u:jbrg5uaz] "Diesel" with a Displacement of [u:jbrg5uaz]628 cui[/u:jbrg5uaz]!!! (10.3 ltr), made by the german LANZ company (now a part of John Deere)
The start procedure of such a tractor took always a lot of time. First you have to heat up the cyl.-head with a blowtorch, it's a so called "Gl?hkopf" (glow-head?) system, than you unlock the steering-wheel, plug it into the massive flywheel on the right side of the tractor and begin to swing the flywheel/piston against the compression point. If the cyl-head is hot enough the engine will fire up (start).
The motor could be run/fueled with almost every kind of oil you can imagine (multi-fuel)
That engine has a power-output 45 hp @ [u:jbrg5uaz]630[/u:jbrg5uaz] rpm, in idle running you can count every single "explosion".
The first start is beginning @ min. 2.15, hope you enjoy it
And here a second video with such a LANZ "Bulldog" tractor in action (tractor-pull contest)
Cheers
Matt
