It sounds reasonable to me, My old 190 Diesel Mercedes owners manual said to use a gallon of gasoline for every ten gallons of diesel in very cold weather, so why wouldn't you reverse that and put a gallon of diesel for every ten gallons of gasoline. It cannot hurt anything. It is possible of a slight ping, but a very minor adjustment on the timing would fix that. Its possible that it might give out some smoke if your engine is low on the compression.
My 2 Cents

I talked with a Marathon jobber today. he confirmed
the deisel fuel trick should work fine. with no warm weather
side effects other tham some light pinging depending
on the ratio used. he commented that deisel is so much cleaner
today virsus yesterday.
my 36 Auburn was never plaqued by this untill recent
increases in the acolohol. I think I will try this, this season.

I read in Model A News where if you add about a galllon of diesel fuel to a tank of gas it will change the boiling point so that it will cut down on problems with vapor lock. Anybody ever try this on a routine basis? Just curious
Thanks
