A new group has formed in the DeKalb County area so that all you with these wonderful classic cars can still have some classic buildings in DeKalb County to park beside and get some Classic Photos.

MACC - McIntosh Arts and Community Collaborative

A county wide not-for-profit group aimed at historic preservation and revitalization through the promotion of artistic, cultural, and intellectual efforts within the DeKalb County (Indiana) community.

If anyone has any questions or concerns or comments feel free to contact myself.

Our website is still in the making at this time.

While still working with the School Board on the land where the High School did set (half standing) we are now focusing towards the Harrison Building (South Indiana Street); an elementary school that is being discussed by the school board to be razed as part of a 10mil dollar project for an expansion to the McKinney-Harrison Elementary project.
The Harrison building was built in the 1930's.

They held an auction during an open house and the 8ft windows along with the little ones above the front door have been sold to a local person. She is currently restoring them and will display them at her home. Then I'll be invited for photos :D

Hopefully this pic shows....

The School is also saving some brass engraved plates, the cornerstones, and various other pieces of the campus for the park and display.

Yes, houses.... 8 houses to be built 1 house a year and a park memorial in the center for the school.

there's a group trying to save it and the School Board hasn't changed its mind. And by the way the community that is trying to save it, it looks like they Gymnasium will be torn down today. <!-- s:cry: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cry.gif" alt="" title="Crying or Very sad" /><!-- s:cry: -->

That's a grand old building, it's a shame it has apparently outlived its usefulness. I collect local postcards and miss quite a few old school buildings which used to be around here as well. Once they're gone they're gone forever.

Most likely by next year there will be a HUGE change to the city of Auburn when you visit. The old school - McIntosh High School will be razed....

Unless someone has a HUGE wallet and a GREAT proposal for the School Board.
