its a good idea.

i just bought every newsletter back to i think 1958 from Doug Conrad's wife shirley. maybe you know how far back they go. but i think this was the beginning.

i bought his 37 cord s/c phaeton at the same time. and i insisted on getting his newsletters and keeping them with the car. doug was meticulous at putting them in binders, labelling them etc. it really showed his life long interest in the car, which he originally bought in 1961 and in the club, where i understand he was a long time member.

so i am thinking now about your idea. do you think we could get the $10,000 down a bit.

since i have every newsletter. and they all appear original to me. ( i may be missing a couple recent ones but i have everything up until doug passed away in 2006). maybe i could get some pricing too.

what makes the cost $10,000. is it the labour or what?

perhaps i could get some labour and see if i could do this. if i could, maybe i could front the cost. we could sell them for $50 or $100 through the club. once they paid me back the cost. anything else after that we could donate to the club.

what do you think? lets discuss it further at auburn if you want.

The Board of Directors has not given final approval pending a reply from the company that provides the scanning services. Once we have a schdule from them, then the Board of Directors will make a decision.

We hope to have that information and present the schedule to the Board of Directors during our meeting in Auburn next month. We should have an answer for you then.

Hi Bill,
Perhaps there is still a bug in the polling program. Even when I'm logged in, it does not allow me to vote.

The voting is at the very TOP of the mesage, not the bottom where you would suspect. It's the software we use, sorry.

We will be upgrading this website later in the year.

You MUST be LOGGED IN if you want to see the voting option. Otherwise, all you can see are the results.

Bill, maybe it's just me or my system, but it is not obvious how to vote, as nothing happens when I click anywhere in your list of possible answers. Do you have any hints as to what I should be doing and what reaction I should see from the system?

I agree that a $99 price point will generate more revenue than a $199 cost. I am fortunate enough to have access to over 40 years of back issues but would find the search capability well worth $100.

I think the $100 would result in more than twice the sales of $200

It would cost MORE to create different DVD archives, than to simply scan everything.

This DVD will be fully searchable so guys like you can be as selective as you want, and see only what you want.

Who knows? You may buy some different ACD cars in the future. You'll be glad you have access to all of the technical articles for each marque.

The entire News Letter at first looks interesting; however, only the technical information would be helpful. How would creating a CD, DVD for each make, Auburn, Cord and Duesenburg. Having only a 1933 Auburn Brougham, most of the information would be informative but not useful to me.

Why not posting a link to this topic in one of the more popular forum-sections like the parts for sale section to reach more forum user?
I guess manny have not once looked into this section but only in either Auburn or 810/812 sections.

This is only my two cents

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

Bill,

As I cast my vote today, there were 26 total votes for this survey. That is less than 2% of the Club membership. I can only hope and pray that this very small percentage of members responding to this website poll is not the deciding factor in this matter.

I'd pay the $200, but you'd probably get the $10,000 paid off alot quicker if you offered them for $100. I think alot more folks woulf be willing to ante up $100 than 200. Good luck!

I would buy this outstanding collection of all ACD-knowledge up to date.
As one of the younger generation, i realize that much knowledge gets lost with each older member that leaves ouer planet, so let us save at least what's left. :)

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

The ACD Club is contemplating the creation of a computer DVD with all back issues of the ACD Newsletter! These will be in Adobe PDF format so you can reprint them in their entirety. They will also be fully searchable. You can search the entire library for any keyword or phrase. It will be an invaluable addition to anyone restoring an Auburn, Cord or Duesenberg automobile. No one knows more about ACD Automobiles than the ACD Club and this DVD will be the ultimate collection of ACD-related articles.

There is SO much information that we have to put it on a DVD instead of a CD. There's every issue, going all the way back to VOL 1, NUMBER 1.

This DVD will be professionally scanned and indexed. Not only will you have the ultimate collection of articles about everything ACD, you'll be helping the Club fund additional projects in the future!

We want your opinion!

This collection will cost the Club well over $10,000.00 to create. We can only produce it if enough individuals are willing to buy the DVD collection.
At $199.00, this collection will be less than 50-cents an issue!

After you answer this poll, please hit REPLY and leave your comments here. We want to know what YOU want! Go to the TOP of this message to vote in this poll!

Here is a sample issue. Check out the quality! SAMPLE ISSUE
