Hi (You didn't give a name),

Congratulations on acquiring the Auburn and with that said, I would suggest you join the club. You can get an application on line and get it mailed in or you can register you and your automobile online. Now for your question.

The 'Old Cars Weekly' price guide does not cover the 1929 models but does offer values for the 1930 Sport Sedan. Prices range from $1,240 (#6 condition all the way up to $31,000 for a #1 car. These are average prices and keep that in mind. The broughams are fairly rare and usually bring a higher price. Price is subjective to all of us. As for getting an appraisal, I personally would not bother with it in as most insurance companies (those who specialize in antique and collector cars like Hagerty, Grundy, J.C. Taylor or American Collector) will insure cars on 'agreed value'. That is to say, if you think your car is worth $100K and can prove it, then go for it. With that said, prudence is the best guide in this case. Good luck with the car and I look for to you joining the club.

Recently my Mother gave me a 1929 Auburn 8-90 Brougham Sedan. My Grandfather purchased the car in the 70's and it was given to my Father when he passed. I am worried about insuring the car properly. Should I have the car appraised? I have had hear different values from many different people. ( A few that actually have OWNED an antique car)
From what I understand, it has the original horse hair interior and it has a new paint job done in the early 80's. I have the owner's manual. I also keep the car in a secure indoor location.
I do have spare antique parts for other cars that my father always said to use for trading for parts for the Auburn. ( Chrome horns, side hinged, windows, and headlights) Any good suggestions on how to find out what cars these belong to?
Now I know why my grandfather enjoyed driving around his antique cars around town so much!!
I can email pictures if you would like. <a href="mailto:[email protected]][email protected][/url]
