Some more shots from the museum. This place is truly a national treasure.

I tried sooo hard to get this lil kid to stick his hand in the mouth of the car and take his balloon sword and act like he was going to strike it, but the kid wouldn't do it.

I was hoping, so I could put the photo in the fair contest next week. Oh well..... :(

Yikes! I'd never seen the AMX Monster before! How'd you like to glance into your rear view mirror and see that thing?!

I agree on the processing, if a human even even looked at them they may have been fooled by the grass. It was very dry and brown but looks pretty green in some of the pics.

I'll post some more museum pics soon.

Anytime I'm there or see pictures of the ACD Museum it strikes me how this has to be the best setup for a marque specific auto museum ever. To have the orignal factory showroom is just unbelievable. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Nice photos! Chris is right, they have that "vintage" look to them.

Sadly Chris probably thinks "Vintage" is the 1970's

Yeah, I think the person that developed your photos was a newbie.

I thought of you last night while at the local cruise-in

I also spent the last 12 days in WI. We crossed from MI. on the Badger steam ferry, spent a week in LaCross on the Glidden Tour, went to Madison to do some reasearch for three days and got home last night to MI. after crossing on the other high speed ferry. 1350 miles all in the L-29 Cord. Who says L-29's can't tour! No breakdowns either.
CORDially Mike

Chris, I know what you mean. For us Kenosha, WI is our "home away from home". We've been to so many car shows there that we know our way around pretty well. Even which restaurants we can walk to from the hotel after the car is cleaned up and parked! We stayed there again this year for the Milwaukee show even though it meant getting up a bit early on show day.

I really like those photos. They have a great "vintage" look to them. It's nice to see pictures not taken with a digital camera once in a while.

I'm glad you enjoyed Auburn. I love Barboursville, but for me that town is home. (And in 2-1/2 years, it literally will be.)

I finally scanned some pics from our trip. I took along my trusty 35mm and was really disappointed with the processing, must be a dying art. One roll especially has terrible color which you'll see. Anyway our journey starts with a quick side trip to Auburn (that's my patient and understanding wife):

Then it was on to the show on Milwaukee's lakefront. Here's a 1929 Duesenberg J Phaeton by Derham:

A 1931 L-29 Convertible Sedan by Limousine Body Co:

And a 1930 L-29 Cabriolet:

A 1936 852 Boattail Speedster:

A 1937 812 Phaeton:

And a few other interesting cars:

Yeah Scott! Next time in Auburn, PM me that you are coming! The AMX and the Galaxie might become friends.

Our trip to Milwaukee was created by Ohio AMX
This past weekend we had the pleasure of displaying our car at [i:2477a2nw]The Masterpiece[/i:2477a2nw], a concours d'elegance held each August on Milwaukee's beautiful lakefront.

Driving out Friday from Ohio we took a little side trip into Auburn (I know, a week early) to check out the ACD museum, my first time there. What a thrill to see all of the great cars as well as the building itself! As we only budgeted a couple hours for our visit we basically ran through it, meaning a return trip is now in order!

The concours on Sunday was just outstanding with at least one Duesy, a pair of L29's, an 812, plus an Auburn speedster being displayed. Having just come from the museum it was truly inspiring to see these cars running and driving! Of course there were many other interesting cars there too such as a Tucker, a Hudson Italia, vintage race cars, etc. I'll post some pics as time allows.

Thinking about the trip, one other highlight comes to mind. We had left Kenosha several hours earlier when we decided to stop along the Indiana Toll Road for some lunch. As I was checking the oil and cleaning the windshield, an older gentleman walked up and said with a smile, "Why don't you [i:2477a2nw]clean[/i:2477a2nw] this thing?" I chuckled and replied that we had been on the road all day. He then said, "We have a Model T, a 1927". I said, "Neat, that was the last year for the Model T", which is common knowledge but he must not have expected that reply from someone my age driving a muscle car. "Yes it was" he said and added that it was also the year he was born. He put his hand on my shoulder, complimented the AMX and wished us well on our journey.

To me [i:2477a2nw]this[/i:2477a2nw] is what the old car hobby is all about.
