I suddenly remembered today that I had a Henney fender lying in the yard. Your fender is a Henney.

The unreliability may have been caused from the center doors. Can you imagine the twisting forces of the body with the extended wheelbase and no frame?
The Uruguayan limo in the ACD link has the center doors welded shut and the rear doors reopened, seems like a good strengthening move.

Apparently the other exists in America as well.

Other builders suggested for the cars were Superior or Miller.

It's great that it survived,
It will be nice to see more pictures of this stretched Cord up close.

I would imagine Owen Bros loved doing this job as it would not require a drive shaft lengthening. Check out the exposed rear door hinges. This would be a good candidate for the intercom and dividing window.

A Cord as a business vehicle gives a new meaning to "I'd be late to my own funeral."

Not a Henney, but one of two built by Owen Brothers of Lima, Ohio, for the Bowersock & Chiles Funeral and Ambulance Service, also of Lima. At least one still exists, in South America, where at last report a few years ago it was being turned into a limousine. You can see a larger photo on p. 126 of Jon Bill's book.

The story I heard is that they were returned to "the factory" (not sure if this meant Connersville or Lima) not long after being built as they proved unreliable. Probably due more to the sectioning required than the Cord's engineering.

Looks like a match.

I believe Henney hearses of the '20s and '30s used Lycoming power, correct? Before they turned to building bodies on other chassis.

I came across this paragraph is there any record of the 810 Hearse mentioned?

{quote},By 1936 both Packard and General Motors were offering extended-wheelbase commercial chassis to the professional car industry. The Packard chassis was based on their successful 120 Series while G.M.'s were offered by their Buick, Cadillac, LaSalle and Oldsmobile divisions. Consequently all Henney coaches were built on purpose-built Oldsmobile and Packard commercial chassis from 1936 onward, although Bernie DeWinter reports that they built a single Cord 810/812-based funeral car sometime in 1936-1937. The only other Cord 810/812 professional cars were built by Owen Bros. of Lima, Ohio.

I thought the same thing but the crown looks a little short?

I can't tell what they are right off hand, but I can tell you what they're not, and that is Duesenberg.

Duesenberg Fenders???? was created by JeffB
I am trying to find out what kind of fenders these are. I was told at one time they might be Duesenberg fenders. Anyone care to take a guess.
