I saw a picture of the car after being lifted and the plastic cover removed. The view was from the front of the car and it had many rust type stains from top to bottom. Efforts were going to be made to get it started. Good luck!!

My guess is that they thought the sheer weight of the top concrete slab would have forced an airtight seal.

I have been following this story for yoears, and was really looking forward to seeing a brand spankin' new 57 Plymouth appear.
It is really a shame that they did not build a better vault.
Any competent waterproofing contractor could have devised a system to ensure a dry vault for a small fraction of what they had invested in this whole time capsule. It looks like there was no seal of any type between the walls of the vault and the top.
