"According to the center for atmospheric research, the heat energy released by a hurricane equals 50 to 200 trillion watts or about the same amount of energy released by exploding a 10-megaton nuclear bomb every 20 minutes."
Oh boy, better get back to boarding up the windows.

We are expecting a lot of rain and wind. We've backed up all servers and we are taking tapes off location in case things get messy.
We've added another 700 pounds of batteries to our backup UPS's in case the power goes out for up to 24 hours.

The problem now is that there is no gas along the highway and cars are running out, stalling, then holding up traffic.

I was just talking to my co-workers why don't they open the other side. 1.3 million is a lot of people. <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: --> Good to hear that that is going to happen. I have heard or read anything about it yet.

10 hours to go 45 miles on I-45 North out of Houston. Hopefuly they will open the highway's opposite side for people to use all lanes.
Off the top of my head I can think of 20 or so cars in the general area including Jim Fasnacht's Best of Show winner.

If anything - donations would be acceptable. But think we first need to find out if anyone is effected. Then either start asking for donations (either with check or even put a "paypal donation button" on the site.
Thoughts?

I did see on the local news a video story about one of the firefighters that was away from home helping others only to come to his New Orleans home to find it up to the rafters in mud. The story continued showing the remains of his empty carport. Then they panned into flooded street only to see the top of the roof of a swamped newly restored $20K model A, it was tragic. There is nothing worse than wet mohair seats and an engine underwater.
There is a huge storm heading into the Houston area now. The authorities are evacuating Houston suburbs and the freeways are crowded with citizens going north and west, I am hoping no ACD cars will be affected. I am now getting ready with bottled water. I hope the Cord is on high enough ground as my house has flooded several times. I was thinking of getting it on the trailer as it would be two feet higher but then the 100 mph wind blown branches and debris might smash it.
Just another day in the day of an ACD member :~)
