I am not sure what it means when a car is "known to exist." I have cars in my barn (not Duesenbergs) that may or may not be, depending upon who you ask. Anyway, there is a very nice original Duesenberg on the hymanltd.com website, J-328 3241.

Cotter's book mentions a butchered A Duesenberg was in the garage, too. Anyone know numbers? I'm working on my A records.

The location of J-418 in the NYC parking garage was no mystery. I heard another X survived but didn't know where until Leno bought it. Since Tom Cotter's (wonderful) book "The Cobra in the Barn" was published, the car media has made a big deal over these "barn finds," but to me a "barn find" is something that wasn't known to exist until it was "found." Everything else is just an unrestored car.

We will find one in Europe, and soon. Mark my words.

Randy should write a book about what was in the garage with the X. The Duesenberg was known to Randy and probably Fred and a few others. However, I do believe all the other stuff they found with the car probably does qualify as true "barn finds'. One example is this original Stutz SuperCharger, one of 4 or 5 known to still exist.

The day I was named the Club's new Duesenberg Historian and began trying my best to fill Fred Roe's very large shoes. (With a big thanks to our Board of Directors.)

I believe the last truly "unknown" Model J Duesenberg was found something like 50 years ago. All recent Model J barnfinds were known by a few experts such as Randy or Fred Roe even if the general public didn't know about them.

I follow up on every rumor I hear. Until we have proved the exact fate of every A, X, Y, and J built, I will continue to believe there's "one still out there."

It may be a stupid question but i can't stop wondering:Do you guys think there is still possible to find any forgotten Duesenberg hidden somewhere over there in a barn? That will be a real exiting event. Thanks
