That's what I've recently heard, from a very reliable source. ALL OF THEM.

I would need to study the list pretty hard but 150 million can buy a lot of cars. If that was a legitimate offer it would need to be considered. I realize there are some pretty expensive ones in the list but there is no way the estate is going to get back the money that was payed for the cars originally. Each one I saw bought at auction was retail plus plus.

I think with that many cars up for sale, It would definitely affect the market. They would never get the full market value because of so much there for the picking. Like when Harrahs went up for sale, I remember having a car & parts mag, and it have several pages of cars that came up for auction. Man I thought WOW!! what fun that would have been. Remember I was only about 12 years old at the time ( I have been dreaming of these cars from about 8-9 years old). Some one in the Jordan club found a 1929 Jordan "G" in a bone yard because the car never sold at the Harrahs sale! The car (Jordan) was not that bad of shape it did need some work but was a driving car. Just so much for sale at one time. How time changes everything. But I have to say WOW!!! to the Oquinn collection!!

1930 Jordan"G" line 90,1953 Plymouth,1951 Chrysler Saratoga,1975 Dart,1974 Schwinn Collgate,1978 Schwinn Continental,1971 Honda 500"4",1973 Honda 350"twin",1975 Honda 500"twin",1955 Norton,1988 Honda Shadow custom,05 crossfire roadster.

Let's re-arrange this story til it represents the facts as they exist right now.

There is no current plan to break up the entire collection. The plan is to pare the collection eown to a manageable level, so they won't selling all the Duesenbergs, or all of the anything.

Someone snagged an inventory list and it made its way to Old Cars Weekly, and they published it.

Hi, A.J.,

Re-read the next-to-last sentence in my post. :)

I personally hope all 25 Duesenbergs come to Auburn with new owners this year...it would make the job of myself and everyone else on the "procurement committee" a lot easier!

Chris, it is sad when someone prematurely dies for sure but I don't see the cars being dispersed as sad at all. There are going to be 650 happy guys out there as well as 25 new Duesenberg owners that are going to get a car they probably couldn't afford a couple of years ago.

Wow, he had aquired almost 800 cars in 7 years.

Thats an average of over 2 per week.

Besides having the funds, how did he do it?

looking at the back of J-461/2490 I wonder why there was only one example built with the rear-mounted spares
I thing it looks much better than the conventional style
this is a real beaty

Are these a few of the O'Quinn cars to be sold?

It is a shame to see the collection dispersed as it was growing and would have been a world class display. Look at what Pricilla did with Graceland.

I am well aware of Mr. O'Quinn's untimely death. The reason I inquired was that early reports were that his companion intended to proceed with the museum.

I told Bob this privately but the collection is now in the control of someone appointed by the estate. Tours are, shall we say, not likely.

Visiting the Gooding & Company auction in Scottsdale next week, you can see about 35 O'Quinn cars become ex-O'Quinn cars, including a Duesenberg (J-461 / 2490).

I'm going to be in the Houston area for a few days working...Was wondering if anybody knows whether or not I might be able to sneak in a peak at the cars? If you know a contact, please pm me.
Thanks,
Bob
