It could be the body from J-153 / 2178, with the modifications Paul mentioned, but I'm not sure. Does Lucas still own J-364? It was offered at Kruse Fall Auburn a few years ago but I don't think it sold.

Ed Lucas owns/owned J-364/2369 for a long time and had it restored with that body (which probably never saw the inside of Murphy's shop...ever). He also owned J-153/2178 at one point, right before the CHASSIS was sold to Carroll. The plot thickens...

The original figoni body is now blue and black and has curved louvres and much wider fenders with no supercharger. It was mated with another duesenberg chassis when the body was rediscovered after the replica was built. The old photos that I have seen of this car show it being white (or some light color) and one dark colour as well as two tone.
If anyone has different info please let me know.
You're right. Rick Carroll put the steel original body on J-153 / 2178 and an aluminum replica on the French Speedster's original chassis, J-465 / 2509. Both were restored. J-465 / 2509 is the supercharged car in the picture and is owned by the Manns in NJ. Last I heard J-153 / 2178, the blue and black car, was in a collection in Nevada.

Chris lists two of my favorites:
Murphy Convertible Coupe #J-357 / 2388. The longest term owner of record was someone I was fortunate to spend a fair amount of time talking with at Auburn over the years. I love the Murphy convertible coupes, this one in particular.
Brunn Riviera Phaeton #J-528 / 2551. The last (and very long term) owner of this car prior to the current one was from my area. I have ridden in it a couple of times, and she runs very nicely!
here's my third:
LeBaron Barrelside Phaeton # J-299 / 2318. A short wheelbase barrelside with an interesting history.

Brunn Riviera Phaeton #J-528 / 2551. I know the fellow who did its first mechanical rebuild in the early 1950s when he was my age and hear stories about driving it hard and fast regularly.
Murphy Dual Cowl Phaeton #J-264 / 2285. Looks like it just left Jay Gatsby's carriage house.
Murphy Convertible Coupe #J-357 / 2388. The only J to anyone's knowledge sold new in my home state and owned by natives ever since. Also, a great largely original car that still gets driven.

The car sure looks better with the top down. It has a trunk lid way out on the end of that boat tail with a smallish functional truck.

post. Lets hear some of your opinions of the best looking Duesenbergs.
Since I thought of it, I'll vote for the taper tail speedster in a California collection. My filing system does not allow me to give you the numbers of the car at this time, I can only look up car unless I have a J number.
