Is it at all practical to try to build a car from a pile of parts like this? Or are the parts needed so rare and so costly that a guy would be better off buying an existing car?

You would be much better off buying a whole real car.

J-573 is a bitsa engine, made of parts from several others and a renumbered bellhousing, none of which have any connection to the REAL engine J-573. Pratt & Whitney literally used that one to death during WWII.

J-241 is more or less original and whole.

Both need work and parts before they can be installed in cars--which, I imagine, is why they're still sitting on stands.

One of the two, I can't remember which, has "LEBARON" written on it with Magic Marker. Classy.

I know NATMUS will not be happy if they sell. The engines are now displayed there. They don't want to loss them.
CORDially Mike
