Modified Cord Trans Cover

Once again I can only post 3 pics so here are a few more.

This is how the Cord trans cover came and I wondered if this is an aftermarket idea? Everything appears cut correctly and very even. I was doing some investigation on this and found some owners decided to add this in hopes of cooling the trans and engine. I'm not sure how much increased cooling this could do for the Cord.
