Confusing it is. The 1945 A.E.A. catalog lists the VRB-4002D being not for Cord, but for '37 Nash 6 & 8 and '37 Packard Super 8, with the footnote "use VRP-4006C". The Electric Auto-lite Co's 1947 service parts catalog is in agreement

I think I can shed a little light and create more confusion at the same time. I have a 1939 Autolite parts cat. that has already NOT listed Cord, to underscore how obscure ACD cars were after production stopped.
I have a 1937 AEA Tune Up chart that lists the 1937 Cord reg. as VRB-4002D. That's the more confusion part.
To clear up the other numbers that have been listed I have this from a 1940 Auto Elect. Ass. Universal Cat. There were so many reg. listed because it depends on the Gen. used.
In 1936 Gen. GAR-4630 used reg. TC-4302A
Gen. GBR-4603 used reg. TC-4306A
In 1937 Gen. GBR-4603 used reg. TC-4306A
Gen. GCO-4804A used reg. VRB-4008C
You must keep in mind that this info. is coming from books I have, I am NOT a Cord expert by any means.
Cordially Mike

The 1945 Automotive Electric Association catalog of original equipment service parts gives the following Auto-lite numbers;
'36 Cord, TC-4302A
'36-'37 Cord TC-4306A
'37 Cord VRB-4008C, with the notation "use VRP-4006C".
This information is in agreement with the Electric Auto-lite Company's 1947 service parts catalog.

Confused enough? Why 3 different..... or was it 4? And why had VRB-4008C been superceded by 1945?

I believe it is an Autolite VRB-4008C.

Is there just one number for the firewall mounted voltage regulator for a 37 cord? I realize there are 2 different types of regulators. One is for the 3 brush and it mounts on top of the generator but I need the part number for the firewall mount type. Thanks for any help.
