Many shields were modified either by the dealers or by the owner or services garages when drums were changed. the inner diameter and height were different.depending which type of brakes you have . The modification was done to clear the cylinder. Also there are 2 types of hubs riveted to the drums.

I just had my front Bendix brake drums turned. They are now 11.051 and 11.068 in size. I will probably still use the original lining thickness of 3/16 inch when I have the front shoes relined at Bayshore Friction in the south bay Cali.
I noticed something odd when I removed the grease shields that are fastened to the inside of the front drums. One side was modified and bent back under making the inner circle larger. It looks to have been done very well. Maybe a factory modification or??? Anyone know if one side is made different from the other and if so why. Thanks again for all the help.
