Could he have meant the NATMUS? I am guessing that is where he saw the engine as IH built and designed the 6.9 (and variants).when IH closed/downsized their tech center in Ft.Wayne, a LOT (lots) of those old trade show cut away engines and stuff ended up there.

That is pretty much what I am thinking.

Over on a forum for the Ford idi diesels from 1983 to 1994 a member posted he saw an idi diesel engine at the museum some time back. Did the museum every have such an engine on display. If so why was it on display. This other diesel forum I speak off is named oilburners.net.
