5 rib Champion J9's were made made up into the mid 50's. I have a set of beer bottle style H10's. Which as you say are pre 1947. I am unsure what the difference is between J9 & H10. If you have a supercharged Auburn or Cord 2 rib J9's are the plug to have.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

The '36-'37's used Champion J9's originally. They discontinued them and the H10 was their replacement. For the use in a Cord they should not only have a blued base, but in addition they should be the 2 rib style. Scarce. This is because the 5 rib H10's came out after 1947. Email me if you would like to see what they look like, or tell me if there is a way to post a picture here.

I recall some postings about the 1936 and 1937 Champion sparl plugs but now can't find it. My records I have written down say the plug is an H11 but I think I remember it to be a C11. whats the correct number. What I do recall reading here is the original plug is no longer found so we just use gun blueing on the newer plugs now and we can buy the plugs in any lawn mower shop. Hope someone can straighten me out on this item. Thanks for any help. My engine has the H11 Champion plugs in it with the cad plating plugs.
