I cannot go forth with the financial on the rebuild. The divorce, I don't care about, the fact of the matter is, I cannot do the Cord the justice that it and my Father deserves, bottom line.

Thank-you all.

Maybe add hardened valve seats for use with the unleaded gas?

If the engine was rebuilt in 1960 and driven little or none, I would think it only needs to be torn down, cleaned, inspected and minor machine work of parts that may rust like valves and seats and cooling system. Parts should be minimal and inexpensive (for a cord part) Labor would be the major expense. Am I missing something?

I would be more worried about the parts that have not been rebuilt. Like electrical, brakes, steering, transmission and suspension.

the Auburn Warm-Up meet is early in June
we usually have a good gathering of Auburn and Cord
cars and there related care takers
plenty of time is devoted to tire kicking and telling lies
we always need new stories to tell and hear
Jack and I invite you to attend

Paul,

I'll second Jim's suggestion of joining the Club - if you haven't already - and then getting out to one of the regional meets next year.

I noticed you're in Florida; I don't know if someone will be doing a Citrus Meet next year or not (Tom? Pat?). I attend the Spring Warm-Up in Auburn, IN, and the Can-Am Meet, which will be in Michigan in 2014, every year. Both are very friendly to newcomers and 810/812 owners attend. There's also a Texas Meet in May but I'm not sure how much nearer that will be to you.

Many have started out in your position before and have succeeded with the help of Club members.

Hi Paul,
I'm sorry to say there are no rebuild kits for the Cord. Also there are no rebuild manuals for the engines (there is one for the transmission). It's something a few of us have talked about for a while but no one has found the time to do.

There is information out there in various places you just need to pull it together or send the engine out to one of the people that has done several of them.

For you other problem I would suggest either getting the engine done quickly and getting her a ride in the car before she sees the price tag. The other option is to take her to one of the ACD meets and let her see some of the cars and get a ride in one so she buys into the rebuild before she realizes how much it will cost.

Anyhow good luck with the project and keep us informed. Also keep asking the questions, there's always someone around to help out.

CORDially, Jim

BURN YOUR RECEIPTS

I have heard there are 29,816 parts to one of these cords. Most of mine came ups..... and didn't fit

Okay, either I am headed to a divorce or not depends on this.

My Father, Don W. Smith has a '37 Cord Beverly S/C. See In Memorium, "Donald W. Smith."

It is in North Carolina. The engine was rebuilt in the early '60s. Is there, a complete engine rebuild kit, gaskets, seals, etc. available? If so,what is the costs? Also is there a rebuild manual, with all the specifications available, am interested.

Would love to hear that baby run, if it is the last thing I do, even if I end up in divorce court.

Now more than ever Cordially, Paul D. Smith
