With brakes, two cylinders are better than one.

Hi Josh,
Agreed that the Hudson had a lot of differences. One is that Hudson provided a shifting stick that the driver could shove down through a hole in the floor and into the transmission in order to drive the car if (or when) the Electric Hand failed.
The Hudson article is of interest, but certainly not a technical manual for the Cord.

Just be aware that the Hudson unit has lots of parts and "capabilities" that the Cord setup does not. Physical arrangements are also much different.

Hi,
My newly-found determination to get my Cord operative, if not restored, coupled with my near total ignorance of how the remote shifting mechanism works, led me to ask for help in another post in this forum. Our club came through, and I have had very valuable correspondence with several members.
I kept looking around on the internet, though, and I found information on Hudson's use of the Bendix remote shifting system that was offered in 1935 on Essex/Terraplane and Hudson. Hudson also offered a vacuum-operated remote clutch as well.
In any event, I found a lengthy article on the Hudson "Electric Hand" device and how to service it. For those who are interested, it is located at :
www.hudsonterraplane.com/tech/19 ... chInfo.pdf
This article has the only drawing I found of the innards of the presumably-similar Selector Switch. I'll know all about how it's put together when I carefully disassemble mine, likely this week.
I also found an image of a Dealer "Electric Hand" button. It has a single finger raised up.
Enjoy the article.
