I love it, I noticed that it is in need of repair. Are you going to use it. I like the banjo type. Paul Fischer of PA since past on always liked that look on a Cord and so do I, and I being a purest. Sell it to me, Ha!

My first impression is 1938 Buick. I do like it.

Thanks for digging in and confirming the Interior. Here is a photo of the Steering Wheel. It looks like a Prototype Banjo wheel. Not sure what it came from...

I agree with Pete Kelly, I also have the '37 factory paint and swatch book. My next question is of your steering wheel. Could you post a picture of it here. Like to see the top and bottom. Thank you !

Hello,

Well, you learn something new every day - I did not know they made Westchesters with built on trunks ! I knew the car was trunk backed from pictures from when it was for sale.

Pete - thanks (my repro book is out on loan at this second) - is there a black with tan interior conbo ?

John, it is a SC Westchester with a Bustle trunk according to the records and the Serial does have an A at the end. My understanding is there is a couple around. On the Interior I have found a Broadcloth Light Beige that has a Grey cast to it. It is somewhat close to the area (in the red box) that was under the armrest in one of the photos above. If I can find a clean enough sample I?ll send it off. That is a great idea.

What interior color seems to be typically seen in 1937 Black Exteriors?

I thought black closed cars had tan interiors though ?

Not to throw another iron in the fire of asking questions, though if I recall correctly this car is trunk backed and I assume that makes it a Beverly - would it also have center armrests in front and rear seats ?

I have seen pictures of one other trunk backed Beverly with a plain interior (not pleated) which I thought unusual, though it did have armrests (and even though the interior was ancient it still could have been replaced eons ago) - perhaps someone can share.

Thanks

Jon Bill at the ACD Museum library has a near flawless original upholstery and paint chip book (he has reproduced in printed form as well - nice, but a photocopy of the upholstery is just not the same as seeing the original). Perhaps he would be so kind to allow you to send him upholstery samples and match as close as possible to the original. My guess though is that somewhere in that car is a decent enough piece to match to - perhaps the backside of fabric on underside of the map pocket flap.

The Historian is Ron Irwin in CA. He is not on line but there is probably people on the forum that could help you with locating the car for your tags if you post the numbers.

Here is a photo of the outside..... you can make fun of my headlamps... anyways let me know your thoughts on the Interior color. According to Josh's book it would be Light Grey. In person looking at 75 year old hidden away Broadcloth areas it looks Grey with a Tanish tint. Need to order material and I have a couple of companies sending me samples. But I dont know how much the hidden away areas may have changed with age and if it was grey what did the grey look like? Any photos or input would help?

Car was owned by Edmund Burchman in Los Angeles. He owned this and also a Custom Beverly at one time that I rec'd the original tags too when I purchased this Cord. Can someone also direct me to the Clubs record keeper I would like to connect those tags with the current owner.

Here some info:
Model 812
Serial 31804 A
Eng FC2513

Black Body
Black Seat piping
Black Steering Column
Black Door Trim Panel Chrome
Black Dash Knobs
Black Carpet
Grayish Window surrounds
Grayish Dash

I will see if I can post some photos, I really dont know what color the Broadcloth is. I am saying Light Grey as it looks like a Light Grey with a tan tint on the hidden areas. In Josh's Cord Complete there is a table in the back that lists this 1937 Black with Light Grey? I also found Black with Red but it diffenitly does not look red anywhere.

Hi,

Just a thought on the 1936-only offering of a light grey interior. Could it be that Dana's 1937, like mine, is a re-numbered 1936? If so, perhaps it could be a 1937 with the 1936-only grey interior. The serial number would answer the question.

Just 2-cents worth of thought, and worth every penny.

According to all my reference materials, a grey interior was only offered in 1936. It appears a combination with a black exterior. What color is the lacing and bindings? Any others have info?

812 Light Grey Interior was created by danbri
Does anyone have some photos they could email or post for me of a 1937 Cord 812 sedan Light Grey Interior? My car is in the upholstery shop and the Original Broadcloth is a bit tainted over the last 75 years.

I am trying to determine if the color was Light Grey or Light Grey with a tan tint to it. I have looked in the areas that have been protected but still hard to determine if it truly was light Grey? It just seems to have a tan tint to it?

Input or photos would be appreciated. Thanks Dana Bridges
