Hi folks, i have ben looking for quite a time to find someone that would sell me headlight flexshaft to replace my broken and to short ones, as i have a 132" Custom Beverly. No luck so far.
So i decided to produce my own ones and now i have the first prototyp set in hand.
They are made in all Stainless steel and rubber cover and are 2300 mm long,( my standard Westchester flexshafts are over all, are 2000 mm long ) They are fitted with a o-ring to prevent entering dirt and water , which happens to the original flexshafts. They will not size or go hard and are ready to fit. I have found inside all of my four clampingtubes, a burr at the end of the slot, which must be filed away, since the ends are a snug fit, also you must make sure that the clampingtube is clean, rustfree and lightly greased. Also make sure all related components move freely. The new flexshafts are greased and seald for lifetime. i would like to produce a small run in either length, according to the number of interested Cord enthusiast's. The longer version will also fit Westchester etc. and if i can produce only the longer size, but in grater numbers, this will affect the price. So if you are interested, please get in contact with me and let me know which lenght you are interested. The shaft between clampinghose and pressing will be reduced on the next run. It might be possible to have the rubber hose covered with stainless steel braided sleeve, nearer to the original look, but i must inquire about that, if someone want that.
Please also see the pics, you see the old ones ( brown and broken, with missing the two layers of steelwires and spring ) and the new ones nice and ready to give you pleasent service for the next 50 decades or more.<!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->
