Hello gents,

I'd thought about it being a mis-stamping, but am not so certain.

One error could quite possibly have been overlooked, but two in succession? It seems, to my mind, unlikely that an error like this would occur twice.

I suppose we'll never know, but it's interesting to speculate, isn't it?

Most likely missed stamped . The suffix K in the Auburn nomenclature is 7 pass sedan. Randy

My guess is the the stamps were in a case and the person picked the wrong letter out of the case. No one saw it or thought it was worth correcting. The cars are numbered consecutively so the plates must have been stamped at the same time.

Two oddly lettered Westchesters was created by Emporator
Hello all,

I'm fairly certain I'm covering old ground here, but I'm fascinated by the two oddly lettered Westchesters, 812 1600K and 812 1601K.

Can anyone speculate as to why these two Cords were stamped with the serial suffix 'K' instead of the expected 'A'? It's just such a strange anomaly. It's so odd that these two Cords break tradition with the serial suffix letter.

Any ideas anyone?
