Yes - but if you do purchase one, please be sure to tell us which size you bought.

Nice picture showing how the plug fits. For me I probably will install the fulmoto drin valve because it wont hang down much more than this oem plug.

Does anyone have the measurement for a Cord 810 / 812's oil drain plug? If not, I'll try to remember to measure it at the next oil change.

Thanks,
Albert

Been in place for over twenty years. No lengthening adapter needed. Just check thread size of Cord drain plug.

Thanks, Balin'. Was a surprise to me!

No clearance problems in many years of using the valve on a Cord 810.

The quick-change fitting is a nice idea. The detent key is very similar to the Cord column shift reverse detent, pull and push, patent infringement?

I would be concerned about impact with collision with objects, debris as the pan sits so low. There web site says to check if there is an impact check the fitting!

Great article I found while checking Pebble Beach on MSN,

autoshow.autos.msn.com/autoshow/ ... id=5193457

The entire world now knows about the Cord through this comprehensive article! Very impressive, Stringsaver #1 :D

Don't know, but it's happened to two of mine. ('Course, that's over a period of half a century. . . :-))

The oil comes out nicely, in a rush. I've never gotten the impression that it's "oozing".

Thanks for the link Josh. I've seen these before but was concerned with how much oil is left in the pan and the small drain hole that won't allow the oil to drain quickly and flush out oil better. I know if you change it often enough like we do it's not as critical but still..... I have changed a lot of oil for a lot of years and never had a female fitting loosen. Is this just a problem with 810/812?

The "round disk" is the visible part of the threaded seat that is swaged into the oil pan. It is twisted both ways as you remove and replace the oil pan drain plug. Eventually it loosens and leaks. The only way to stop it from leaking is to remove the pan and weld the seat in place.

If your plug seat isn't leaking yet, you can prevent this by installing a Fumoto drain valve. I've had one on my Cord for decades. I change the oil by sliding the drain pan under the car and leaning over from the top and opening the valve. No getting under the car. (Good thing too, since I change my oil every 500 miles.) And it's virtually invisible.

Oil-pan Drain Plug question was created by Bill McLaughlin
My oil-pan drain plug is inserted into a round disc in the oil-pan that started to spin when I tried to remove the plug. I held the round disc with vice gips and removed the plug to change the oil.

However, now the oil is leaking from between this round disc and the oil-pan.

Can this round disc be tightened or gasketed in any way or do I have to take the oil-pan off and weld the disc in place (peresumably inside the oil-pan) ?
