As well as aluminum wheels Don Wohlwend had also made brake drums and rear wheel hubs. He sold all three machining programs in the same deal.
I had bought a pair of rear wheel hubs which had been machined out of steel billet. My original hubs were found to have a lot of cracks where the flange meets bearing housing.

If the wheel project was sold to someone in Canada, it has to be David Carlaw at 705 653 4525.

Hi Jim
I'd like to track that guy down since I own a manufacturing plant capable of machining aluminum. Perhaps I can machine them myself
I will not be able to make Gettysburg as I am still in Fl working on new house , I will be at Auburn for sure with the goal of bringing the 810 WC , everything is ready to test fire it up when I return , I am getting the 37 812 delivered to my place in the next few weeks and will update on that one as it moves forward

Hi Hooter,
The aluminum wheel were made by Don Wohlwend in Washington. He made a run of either 10 or 20 sets if I remember right. Don sold the project to a guy in Canada who hasn't made any. The problem was the price of aluminum went way up and the machine shop Don was using (a hobby shop) went out of business and a modern machine shop is a lot more expensive. I forget what the price went to if a new run was made but is was way more then people would pay.
I only know of one set that is not on a car, and that car is under restoration. I called all over looking for a set and couldn't find any.
While I'm talking to you, how about coming to the Spring meet in Gettysburg May 24-27?
CORDially,
Jim

Wheels , Aluminum ? was created by Hooter
I was reading a article in the Accelerator on MoonShadow and one of the upgrades Mr. Malk's did was have thicker aluminum wheels, My question is did he manufacturer them or purchase them from a Cord Supplier ? , any feed back would be appreciated.
I did purchase his book but have not had time to read it in depth so not sure if he talks about that in the book
