I agree the compass in the short film clip is not a Cord Accessory. A picture of the accessory booklet is attached. I believe the Cord Accessory Compass is extremely rare and that there is an even rarer illuminated model thanks to information supplied by Pete Kelly.I made one from photographs and help from members then upgraded it to super rare illuminated model. Mine has all the correct internals but I have not managed to get it to work as it is close to the metal frame between the windshields as well as the windshields. Maybe one day I will get it sorted. It certainly looks ok.
The last picture shows an original compass fitted in a phaeton.

Not original Cord.
It should be filled with mineral oil not water.
See me at Auburn for a detailed explanation/expose.

I have never opened it up. It may be simple but it might have jeweled bearings and complexity of a Rolex watch. This would be a good limited club project of 100 pieces.

Any chance that the compass body and supports could be copied and machined?

I hope this link works, my 1936 GPS, ha-ah, the water is still in it and it moves north, surviving many freezes.
