Thanks Guys, mine had been in the down position for many years and I guess it is the same with a of of Cords. The second picture in the first posting was taken in Auburn in 2011.
The picture with the bracket in the up position was the Award Winning Westchester of Mark Clayton.

EL is correct - the rivet should be up. If you put the rivet down the hood will open wider but the prop doesn't sit right when the hood is closed.

Almost every car that I have looked at with the rivet below has a scratch under the hood at the hinge point, especially the supercharged ones. Moving the rivet up into the hood eliminates that.

What evidence do you have to support your statement? Comment from others would also be appreciated especially the Judges.
I found a picture of one of the Hand Built Cords which I tried to attached. The rivet can clearly be seen below the hood louver.
I will take a photo of this picture and try attaching it.

Looking through pictures to determine what is the correct or Factory way things were put together I recently noticed there are variations in the attachment of the hood prop at the top. Attached are pictures of the two versions.
One has the mounting bracket above the hood louver.
The other has the bracket below the louver.
What is the correct way to attach the hood prop?
