HinTodd: I don’t mean to hijack this thread but it’s the only way I can reach you. You mentioned you wanted to purchase my NOS Autolite coil but I still haven’t received payment. If you have changed your mind, let me know and I’ll re-list the coil on the club web site. Thanks, Cliff

As always, thanks for the info gents, and I very much look forward to receiving the templates Terry!
There are supposed to be thin metal pieces that cover the wood surround once it’s installed and they are painted body colour. The passenger side vertical piece of the trunk wood cover is still there on my car (with no wood behind it) but the rest are gone.
If anyone has some extra of these laying around I would be interested in them!

Todd the hinge mounting in the sedans is different to the phaeton.
You are lucky as I saved all of the original wooden pieces from the frame in my Westchester.
I can send you templates. What is your postal address?
Send it to my home email .......... [email protected]
There is also metal sheeting covering all of the wooden frame. I see you have the lower strip of wood that goes between the body and cross member.

My 37 Beverly sedan does NOT have any wood around the Bustle trunk or inside the body. It actually has outside lid hinges. They are a close replacement the Chryslers have so you can purchase plenty of those on ebay really cheaply. Last I checked I had 2 complete hinge sets. My 37 was built in the first or second week of January 37 and its defeinantly NOT a renumbered car. So dictates in the engineering change book.

I am pretty certain that the timber frames are different with the sedan and phaetons. As an example in the parts book there are three separate fuel tank filler lids for the sedan, phaeton and cabriolet.

Hi Tom, thanks for the photos. I’m assuming that no one reproduces the wood pieces, so I will have to make replacements. Luckily I have a full wood shop as well.
Dimensions would be greatly appreciated!

There is a timber frame which fits around the inside of the trunk opening.
There are also some wooden blocks at the top of the frame to which the hinges are attached.
I still have the original timber framing which I can take some pictures of and post in a day or so.

Cord trunk question was created by fireguyfire
So I was thinking about rough fitting the trunk lid I sourced for my 1936 Cord and seeing how it bolts up.
I noticed there are 4 wood screws above the trunk opening when I was stripping the overpaint from the car, and knew obviously they are not correct. Today I decided to have a closer look at why they are there, and they are screwing into a wood block on each side of the trunk lid hinges, and one side of each hinge is attached to it. The other side of each hinge has 3 holes that clearly are for also attaching the hinge to the car for support, but there is nothing there on either hinge.
im guessing there is supposed to be a wooden interior surround for the hinges to bolt to originally? Can someone describe or better post a photo or 2 of how the trunk lid hinges are supposed to correctly be fastened to the car?
