I think the item above the rear view mirror is an altimeter, it may be a Taylor altimeter like the one in the picture. Not sure about the one above that.
Compasses are too hard to come by, so I made my own with some assistance from other ACD Club members.
It's comforting to know you are heading in the right direction.

Hi Pete,

I'll post photos after the holidays. This may warrant a new thread.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,
I think Pete is referring to the “wind wings” on the front doors. Based on the picture of your car and the picture on page 287 of Cord Complete it does appear that you have the correct accessory wind wings. I would think that these are pretty rare.
Best regards,
Bill

Hi Pete,

I have no idea as to what "no draft window vents" are or what they look like.
Help me out here.
Cheers,
John

The horrible yellow paint job is a previous owners preference. Frankly, I think Geneva Blue is much better! She’ll be repainted in original color.

John, It is best to write Ron whith what information you have on your New Cord and ask him if he has anything else.

My guess is a previous owner added the supercharger to a standard engine, posibly the original engine and at the same time cut the extra vents in the hood to allow the heat to escape.

A red engine sometimes means it has been rebuilt. Many rebuilders paint there work.

John you could also ask "Why the horrible yellow paint job?
One RHD Cord out here gained some similar louvers very early in its life.
The attached pictures were take in 1937.

Would Ron have photos of this Cord earlier than the recently posted photos? What is the best way to contact Ron?

Any thoughts on the louvers? The hood certainly has a number of them. They appear professional. Also the transmission cover has louvers.

I’ll double check the engine block. The car has been in storage since 1960.

But, why is the engine painted red?

Cheers,

John

Gary: In Ron Irwin’s records, this is an un- supercharged car. Picture of the serial number plate shows engine # FB 2346. His records show 16 un-supercharged Berliner were produced.

Hi John: Congrats on a great find and buy. Another piece of American history will be saved. Thank you!
Looking at Ron Irwin’s files, it is a known Cord, but he did not have the CMC number. I will forward all the pictures to Ron for his files. He does not use email.
CORDially, Tim.

Congratulations John it didn't take long to find a suitable substitute.
You have been rewarded for thinking of the people who wish to bring the family Cord back home. Well done.

Very happy you got this treasure. Its a Cord with plenty of questions to be answered.
I would love to know why its supercharged with inside exhaust. Why is it a smooth interior like a Westchester but has a bustle trunk like a Beverly. As to why this car has the manual shift instead of the complex vacuum manual electric shift I sure that's explained because some previous owner couldn't keep it shifting and wanting to "drive it trouble free" chose the manual. My Beverly came with a manual shift. Henry Portz is the only club member to actually see it in 1977 but had no idea what it was.
