I went to see it, was going to have a stab at it ,but it made £46,000. ($62,000) Needed some recommissioning etc. I thought it was a bit too much for a street rod, now I don't get a pair of Cord's for Christmas!

Hi Trevor: According to Ron Irwin’s info, this is a known Cord that was exported. It has factory installed leather interior. In 2003, it was owned by R. Exton of South Africa.
Engine # FB 1032; CMC # C90 1357.
Tim.

Trevor this Cord was restored/modified by Ray Exton in South Africa. Ray had put together an extensive web site called Cord In South Africa that listed all of the known Cords that were originally sold in South Africa. I tried to open it this morning but couldn't. The site also gives a short history on each of the cars.
Ray put the car up for sale a few years ago but couldn't find a buyer in South Africa so it ended up in the UK. Not quite my cup of tea however it looks good and should go like a rocket.
From memory around eighteen RHD Cords were originally sold in South Africa.
From discussions with Barry Sly in the UK we believe 100 RHD Cords were built and exported to Commonwealth countries.

This has cropped up here in the UK for sale shortly. I would class it more of a street rod but am interested in all your thoughts. www.carandclassic.co.uk/auctions/1936-cord-812-45YBV4
