Very interesting - thanks for the information gents.
I've been trying to help a gentleman identify an ornament he has and it is the one shown as Auburn 28-31. If it isn't Auburn I guess he'll have to figure out what it really is!

The Auburn book calls the 35-36 flying lady an accessory hood ornament, however I have never seen the base (bull nose) not drilled for the lady. The 28-30 ornament that the author claims to be for Auburn is a mystery to me.
There are many errors in that documentation if you look closely. I have a Chevrolet hood ornament collection, he is wrong on about 20% of them.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Thanks guys!
So can anyone confirm that the one shown for 28-31 (probably should be 28-30 as Mike suggests) is actually Auburn? Anyone have one or have seen one on an Auburn?
I'm still trying to verify whether or not it was in fact a real Auburn hood ornament.
Thanks!
Justin

Justin,
The one shown for 31-34 is the one I have for my '32. I am not familiar with the one shown for 28-31, but I suspect they meant 28-30. That base wouldn't work well with the 31-33 Eight and 32-34 Twelve radiator shell & pitchfork.

Here is a photo showing Auburn hood ornaments. I'm not sure of the source.
My question is whether the "flying man" shown for 1928-1931 Auburn is actually correct? Was it a factory option? I don't recall seeing this one myself but I'm not as familiar with these years as the early 30's.
