Talk with Greg Frownfelter
Our '32 cabriolet was done by him a few years ago, and seems to do fine, although I have not personally driven it out of town yet. We plan on doing more touring with it next year.

I have heard that some folks have had their rear axles "re-geared" by having a Ford 9 inch centersection added.(with appropriate gear ratio)
I see that both axles use the 'drop out third' concept, which is interesting that Columbia did this long before fomoco did.

Anyways, is the mounting surface of the 'pig' to centerline of the axle shaft the same?

And, are the stock axles resplined to 28 or 31 spline to fit in the ford centersection, or are the Columbia spider gears somehow used? (I really doubt that)
If the Ford pig and axles ARE used, are the (ford) axle bearings utilized and the housing end reworked to accept these?
I have a few of each axle, but not so excited to tear them apart and discover that my info is wrong.

I'm Curious. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> Thanks
