You should be able to disassemble that cap and replace the seal. I'll bet if you check with a few owners, you will see a variety of materials, techniques & workmanship. You are welcome to look at mine, I usually have at least two with me (no, they are not for sale). I have a combo of washers & rubber sheet cut to size....hardware store stuff if you don't have it lying around.

That said, if you don't care what it looks like, I know an oil filler cap from an early 80's VW Rabbit works fine.

The radiator cap on my 1931 Auburn 898-A does not fit very securely. I understand that the cooling system is not pressurized but would like to obtain a proper radiator cap that fits securely and prevents pressure build-up. Where can I obtain a proper radiator cap ? Thanks MA
