Based on the feedback, I'm thinking that perhaps the filter canister I have is not original to the car. The NAPA filter # is 1100.

I agree with Curt. Probably 16 or 18 years. There entire old stock was bought by Freemont Automotive when they stopped supplying them. I bought Fremont's last one around 2003.

It is my opinion that NAPA has been out of them for years.

Turns out the filter in it has a NAPA #. I can get one there. Still digging or info about the ignition parts. Any sites you recommend? Thanks!

I've used Rotella T1, straight 40 in my 8-95 since I rebuilt the engine 6 years ago. 4M miles later still happy!

Thank you for your response. I'm also looking for a source for oil filters and ignition parts, like points, rotor, and cap.

I use Valvoline VR1 40W in most of my old cars. Both Rotilla-T and Valvoline VR1 have zinc. When people start adding zinc to the oil they have no idea how many parts per million they now have. I have seen research by GM that says there can be too much zinc in oil. It is not always more is better. I don't think most of our old cars have high valve spring rates that would put our engines in danger, but I use zinc oil anyway.

I use Shell Rotilla-T 15-40 in all my antique sars.
