It DOES rain on our Parade!

For the record and those who weren't at Auburn...it most definitely did NOT rain on our parade. We baked in 97 degree heat.

That evening the skies opened up and downtown got pretty wet. Of course, this being the ACD Club, that didn't stop anyone.

Looking at the photo again... the 2 parked cars in the drive-way. The 2nd car looks like a Galaxie, sadly most of it is hidden by a tree and a Cord

Does anyone else worry that this discussion is going to jinx us this year? lol See everybody soon, rain or shine.

I believe 1989 was also the last year Jerry Gebby attended along with the new owner of the freshly restored ex-Prince Serge Mdivani Duesenberg. Felt sorry for all concerned as I watched the car getting very wet.

I believe prior, to last years Duesenberg record, our 1989 record was 60 Duesenbergs, in Eckhart Part, IN THE RAIN........

I too remember the year Jim describes. It was indeed tragicomic to watch the frenzied attempts all over the square to get the tops up on Auburn Speedsters and Cord Phaetons. Nor a pleasant sight. (Not to mention the language.)

I do remember one year, I think 1988 or 1989 where the last car of the parade pulled into a parking spot and the the skys opened up with a good thunder storm. I was under the awning of the jewlery store across from the hotel.

I have been attending since 1986 (1998 with a car) and both the Auburn and I have been rained on quite a few times. Now and then it was pretty much wet all weekend.

good year 1971... I missed the 1971 parade by a few week. If only I'd not been born late.

While speaking with Bob McEwan the other day, I echoed another member's observations that we were somehow blessed and that it never has rained on our Saturday Parade.

Bob told me that I haven't been around long enough and it has indeed occasionally been rainy. He sent me this photo of his Cord in the 1971 parade. Whew! These guys have long memories ... Notice the big crowd.
