to Amelia island for display-I got to go with it as its handler
to my amasement lots and lots and lots of people were suprized
to see it, they knew a lot about it-flat head ford with Duntov
heads and many quirks like the t tops, its aviation carry overs
I came away from there with a new concept of what I considered
an unattractive exercise

Gordon Buehrig in his autobiography, Rolling Sculpture:
Someone once said, "Show me a man who never made a mistake and I'll show you a man who never did anything." When I think of the Tasco I repeat this to myself. It helps a little.
People often just sum up the TASCO as "that ugly prototype." Buehrig's book actually tells you how everything went so horribly wrong...and it wasn't all his fault.

I liked the Phantom more the first time I saw it. I remember it as a simpler design.

"The Essen Motor Show had it share of modified and cool cars, however there was one which stood out. Created by William Burge an artist from Houston was the Phantoms? car. You wont believe what is underneath the strange metal work and gargoyle heads. A 1968 Volkswagen Beetle."

The similarity is undeniable. The builder will claim he didn't pattern this after any car, but if Gordon Buehrig were alive today, he would have a good case for patent infringement!
