if the inside is only dirty and not corroded, you can first clean it with degreaser liquid and then have it plasticblasted after that clean it well out and put it together with a new kit. if corroded : follow Tom's description. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

Hi.

Yes, there should be rubber seals--one snapped on at each end. Rebuild kits come with new cups, spring, and the snap-on end seals. I suppose your best bet for suppliers might be in the States. A US brake service can help you with pitted cylinders and rebuild kits: www.brakeplace.com . They can sleeve your cylinders with stainless steel and install new kits. They have treated me well.

You MAY also be able to find interchange info from the obsolete or Old Car catalogs of a parts store. ACD members may also know interchange info for new cylinders. You can make a posting in the Auburn Forum and/or parts forum.

With brakes, two cylinders are better than one.

It took me a couple of goes, but I eventually got the picture on here.
I wanted to show you these hydraulic brakes from my Auburn 4-44 which I have just started restoring here in Queensland. I am not exactly sure whether there is supposed to be some rubber seals (they seem to have perished) and I still don't know how I'm going to clean the inside out yet..but..I'm sure someone will know how?? : :
