Anyone interested in seeing the Phantom out of the Museum may like to know that it has been invited to the Amellia Island Concours this next March. Come early and hear it run.

See you in Fla.

If it burns fuel and makes noise I want to see it.

I drive the Wombat.

The dash board and steering wheel position in the movie car are entirely wrong.

Rust Hienz used his 810 Sedan for the base of the Phantom saving the drive train, rear axle and instruments. The rest of the car was tossed out. I guess a 36 Cord just wasn't flashy enough.

The drive unit and streering were attached to a new rear frame and the body was designed to enclose the front wheels giving the dramatic streamlined look. This also makes the body very wide so that you seat four people across the front with one passenger to the drivers left.

The car drives just like a Cord should but, the near center seat of the driver and the short narrow windows make it very difficult to see out of. I am never comfortable driving it in any kind of traffic and if I have to back it up I always use a spotter. Other than that it's a real kick in the pants.

I see who you mean now. That's not Margaret Hamilton (a.k.a. the Wicked Witch), although it does look a lot like her.

Billie Burke is in the movie, however.

Oh, how I wish more than one Phantom Corsair existed.

The real thing isn't right-hand-drive...is it?

Flying Wombat in film, check out the speed-o-meter and the right hand drive. The chassis on display is rear wheel drive, I'll take a Wombat or three! Click below for youtube link...
