My first comment is to express my awe at the treasure trove of ACD and
other automotive history so generously entrusted to our club website.
Thank you to the Brockmans and all who have worked on this project.
Now to the Auburn inquiry. Please go to Page 1 of the Miscellaneous
Archives section of the Brockman Collection and view Photo JBA 732.
This is a right side view of a very elegant and racy custom bodied 1933
or 1934 Auburn 12 Cylinder in a dark color and with chromed wheels.
The body is somewhat akin to the Duesenberg Model J Weymann-La
Grande Torpedo phaetons ( SJ526 / 2554 and J582 / 2608 ) in the side
window treatment and the rear aspects of the close-coupled open body
but the front door cut down is much more pronounced. Can someone
please identify the coachbuilder and is this vehicle still extant? There
is another frontal view of this vehicle in the collection but I failed to make a note as to the location and image number. It will turn up again.What a

Hi Johnathan, I can't find a JBA 732 but if you are refering to JBA 693 thru JBA 701 that car is actually refered to as a 1933 Auburn Dual Cowl Phaeton purchased by John David Eaton. It is serial no. 1324L. It was sold to him on Sept. 30 1933 and the color is indicated as Prime.
Also of interest is Lady Flora Eaton owned two L-29 Cords and purchased a Auburn 8-101 on Jan. 17, 1933. A nice ACD family.

I didn't mention that it was sold by O'Donnell-Mackie in Toronto Ont. There is no mention of a custom body. They only sold eight 12 cyl. cars for all production years. Jim made no mention of the car still existing.

I saw an article on that car, which I believe was written by Jim Brockman, in a 1990s newsletter. I'll dig it out when I get home at the end of this week. (Final exams are upon me.)

Thanks to Chris Summers, Mike Huffman and Bill Hummel for responding
to my comment of last evening. I would like to amplify this a bit. There
is no way that the magnificnt Auburn 12 cylinder open car is a standard
run of the mill convertible phaeton sedan. This has got to be a custom
body. Mike has pointed out the other photo images of the car which I was
not able to identify last evening and they are found at Page 3 of the Auburn Archive and carry nos.JBA693,694,695,696,698,699,700 and 701.
These are the same vehicle I referenced last evening and I presume that
Mike has now found that photo image. Several of the winter time photos,
all of which appear to have been taken on the premises of a very posh
residence , feature a male and female figure extremely well dressed. The
coat worn by the lady is most probably a real leopard or jaguar pelt item
and she may be the Lady Flora Eaton whom Mike referenced above. I am
not at all acquainted with Canadian history or gentry but suspect that she
may have had a royal title of some sort. I look forward to Chris finding
the Newsletter article by Brockman about this vehicle. Note the license
plate of the left rear tailamp bracket is Ontario 1933 F-86. The view of
the interior taken from above ( perhaps from a ladder) is marvelous as
it shows the pattern of upholstery in pleated leather and the brackets
with threaded knobs with which the side windows attach to the body. I
suspect that the handsome convertible top assembly folded into the rear of the body in a manner akin to the Brunn Riviera Phaeton Duesenberg
bodies. It looks like there was a latch mechanism on the right rear side
of the body inboard of the right rear tailamp and fender which would have
allowed the rear of the body to open and pivot rearward. What do you all
