I think Balin' substituted Cord for Ford. You can work up a sweat cranking a Model T by hand. But once it's warmed up, you can start it by just moving the spark lever a half inch.

Nicely put - I don't think this just applies to Cords! Are these your words? Spoken like a true "old car nut"!

Automobile musing was created by balinwire
They say she?s predictable,
But that?s just fiction.
But instinct would say
It?s the greatest of contradiction.

She?ll purr like a kitten,
Then squeal like a mouse.
She?ll head for the barn.
And run to the house.

She?ll kick when you crank her,
But when she gets started
She?ll snuggle up to you
As if you?ve departed.

When you?re driving alone,
She?ll run like a fool.
But when someone?s with you
She?ll bark like a mule.

Wind up the lights,
They throw quite a beam,
?till you?re turning a corner,
Or bridging a stream.

Then when they?re most needed
There?s barely a glimmer.
You can?t see a thing
If they get any dimmer.

If you?ve got one good tire
And the rest are all shot,
The first one to blow
Is the best of the lot.

Old Startix is cranky,
Tube Mercury says hot
Crank the windshield,
This steed wants to trot.

Turn of the switch
Go sit in the shade
Start cussin? the day
That Cord was made.

You?ve rested up some
So you?ll try her once more.
You step on the switch
And she starts with a roar.

But we can?t help but love her
For the rest of our life.
Perhaps it?s because
She?s so much like the wife.
